More about the island Here
Playa Blanca is a tranquil town situated on the southern tip of the island which takes its name from the white sands of its beaches. It is a quiet un-spoilt resort that has been sympathetically developed so that the centre of the town has retained much of it's original fishing village charm. Playa Blanca is the quietest, warmest and flattest of the three principle resorts on Lanzarote and is therefore particularly attractive to older visitors and the very youngest. Playa Blanca is a top destination for families and couples looking for peace and utter relaxation on their summer holiday. It's also a great winter sun escape.
Local amenities are within walking distance from the Villa, but if you don't fancy that, you could also hire a bike. There's much to see and do on the island so hiring a car is worth consideration or there are several organized excursions. Beach-lovers will be more than impressed with Playa Blanca. As the name suggests, it's here that you'll discover some of the island's whitest, most unspoilt beaches, including the most famous on the island, the Papagayo coves.
With a distinct lack of raucous clubs and bars, but no shortage of great restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets on the main promenade, this isn't the place to come if you want throbbing nightclubs and bustling bars. Some of the big hotels do organize shows and other forms of entertainment, but if you really want a big night out, head to nearby Arrecife or perhaps, Puerto Del Carmen, half an hour away by car.
A recent development in Playa Blanca is the Marina Rubicon. Located close to Papagayo, at the eastern-end of the resort, Marina Rubicon is a sea front development of up market restaurants and designer boutiques positioned next to a beautiful Marina of luxury yachts and boats. Here at the water's edge you can sit back and sample either the local or international cuisine that is on offer.
Enjoy two Canary Islands in one trip by hopping on the ferry for a day in Fuerteventura. The journey takes about half an hour and costs about £8 per person for a return journey. You land in Corralejo, the island's busiest and liveliest resort. Browse the shops, bars and restaurants around the main square, Plaza Grande de Corralejo and after that visit Parque Natural de Corralejo's 10km of dazzling white sand dunes.
